Popular Mechanics  Compact fluorescent lamps have made major advances in the past few years, and are now scheduled to replace all incandescent bulbs. (Legislation to ban incandescent bulbs is in the works both at the provincial and the federal level.)  This comparison study uses both qualitative and quantitative testing to compare 7 CFLs and a tradiational incandescent bulb.  Surprisingly, the incandescent bulb did not fare well, with an overall rating of B, while the seven CFL's ranged from A to B+.
